The Country Rebranded, So Did CIP Türkiye, and Now It Offers So Much More

CIP Turkey is now CIP Türkiye, with tax residency, corporate structuring, banking, and property added to the citizenship practice.

Countries almost never change their names, and when they do, something larger is usually underway. Türkiye registered its own with the United Nations in 2022, effective May 26, retiring the anglicized spelling the world had used for a century and asking, politely but without much room for discussion, to be addressed correctly.

Ankara called it a matter of brand value. Three weeks later, on June 13, the government raised the minimum property investment for citizenship from $250,000 to $400,000.

Read those two moves together. A country that had just asked the world to take it more seriously raised its own price by 60% and dared the market to walk.

The market did not walk. Four years on the $400,000 figure still stands, applications keep arriving, and Türkiye has spent the interval building a tax regime around the people the passport brings in.

The Passport Still Sells

Demand never blinked. Buy property valued at $400,000 or more, accept a three-year restriction on resale, and the file moves: A spouse and every child under 18 travel on the same investment, at no additional cost.

No language examination. No obligation to sleep a single night in the country, and processing measured in months rather than the decade ordinary naturalization asks of everyone else.

The number that decides eligibility is the appraisal, not the contract. An appraiser licensed by the Capital Markets Board sets the valuation, and buyers who shop at exactly $400,000 tend to discover the difference between those two figures at the worst possible moment.

Istanbul

Alternative routes price at $500,000: A bank deposit, government bonds, shares in a real estate or venture capital fund, or fixed capital investment, each held for three years. Employers who create 50 jobs in the country qualify on separate terms.

One detail travels quietly among Americans, and among those who would like to sell into America. Türkiye holds an E-2 treaty with the United States, and access to that investor visa runs on nationality, which makes a Turkish passport a door into the American market as readily as a door out of somewhere else.

What Türkiye Built Around the Passport

Then came the tax package, and with it the reason Istanbul now surfaces in conversations that used to end somewhere warmer and more expensive. In a year when several long-favored jurisdictions were quietly narrowing what they offered incoming wealth, Türkiye went the other way and did it in public.

Law No. 7582 appeared in the Official Gazette on June 4, 2026, inserting Article 20/D into the Income Tax Law. Individuals who become Turkish tax residents from January 1, 2026 may exempt foreign-source income and gains from Turkish income tax for 20 years.

Foreign dividends, overseas rental income, and gains realized outside the country drop off the Turkish return altogether. Inheritance transfers for those who qualify are taxed at a flat 1%, against a schedule that otherwise climbs into double digits.

Türkiye taxes what happens in Türkiye. Domestic income runs through the ordinary progressive rates, and nothing in the exemption disturbs that.

The relief is not handed out at passport control. A certificate must be obtained from the tax office under the procedure set in General Communiqué No. 333, published July 4, 2026, and qualification rests on having held no Turkish domicile and no Turkish tax liability in the three calendar years before residency begins.

Which calendar year an arrival is deemed resident in changes the filing timetable. How a given income stream is classified at its source changes whether it qualifies at all.

Neither question answers itself from a hotel suite on the Bosphorus, and the answer holds for two decades.

From CIP Turkey to CIP Türkiye

CIP Turkey spent 15 years doing one thing extremely well. CIP Türkiye is doing something considerably more ambitious: It sells the country.

Not the document, not the unit, not the appointment at the land registry. The whole proposition, from the first conversation about what Türkiye is for through to the company that eventually operates out of it.

The group has moved to cipturkiye.com, adopted the Turkish spelling across the business, and will retire the old identity over time. Co-founder Aran Hawker confirms the firm is “now fully adopting CiP Türkiye” and will “eventually sunset CiP Turkey.”

Ankara

Fellow co-founder Taymour Polding frames the shift as a response to what clients started asking for. In his account, “a passport is an outcome, not a plan,” and the families arriving now “want somewhere to operate from, not simply somewhere to be from.”

That client lands with a company, a family, a portfolio in three currencies, and a set of questions no single professional can answer alone. Citizenship counsel cannot open a corporate account. A property agent cannot read a double-tax treaty.

Polding is blunt about where the work actually lives. Introducing a client to a lawyer is easy, he argues, and “holding the whole structure together, in the right order, is the part nobody sees and the part that decides whether it works.”

One Group, One Strategy, One Path

The expanded practice begins before anything is bought, with a question the firm puts to every client at the outset: What should Türkiye become for you? A second citizenship, a tax-efficient residence base, a family relocation, a regional headquarters, or the whole set arranged in sequence.

Citizenship planning remains the anchor. Eligibility review, route selection, source-of-funds documentation, valuation checks, the residence permit stage, and passport issuance, handled as one file.

Tax structuring now sits beside it: Pre-arrival residence analysis, treaty review, timing of the move, estate and inheritance planning, and the certificate process that turns a headline exemption into an entitlement a client actually holds.

Corporate work covers formation, licensing, holding structures built for cross-border trade, accounting, payroll, work permits, and governance. Legal coordination runs through strategic partner Yüksel Law.

Istanbul

Property acquisition is handled with strategic partner Turkey Investment Property, which sources vetted residential and commercial assets and performs the due diligence separating a qualifying purchase from an expensive misunderstanding.

Financial infrastructure arrives through strategic partner CoinPanel, whose banking-as-a-service rails issue accounts, cards, and payments under compliant licensing. Treasury is where most relocations stall, and it is the piece advisory firms almost never touch.

The claim is not that any single component is unique. It is that all of them sit in one file, under one strategy, and that nobody has to explain their life five times to five firms in three languages.

The First Arrivals

The theory is already in practice. According to Hawker, the first clients are being processed for tax residency now, drawn by the exemption on global earnings, with large corporates expected to follow.

Polding sees the sequence as the point rather than a milestone. Private capital moves first because it moves fastest, in his view, and “the institutions arrive once someone else has proved the ground holds.”

Türkiye spent 2022 telling the world what to call it. It spent 2026 giving the world a reason to answer.

Speak to CIP Türkiye

For anyone weighing a Turkish passport, a residence base, a corporate relocation, or all three in the right order, sequencing is the question worth getting right, and it is far easier to get right before the first wire leaves the account than after.

CIP Türkiye offers a private consultation at no cost, covering eligibility, route selection, and pre-arrival tax residence analysis for your specific position.

Filing does not rebuild the market that licensing built. The client sourcing network fragmented after 2018 and has not come back together, so the providers who shrink their Chinese distribution in September will be cutting the wrong thing.
