Most digital nomad visas function as long-stay tourist visas. These 11 programs offer something different: codified paths to PR and citizenship in Europe, Latin America, and Asia.
The Taiwan Resident Visa for Entrepreneurs allows foreign nationals to establish and operate businesses in Taiwan. It provides a two-year visa with residency rights and the ability to register a business, with extensions available based on business performance.
Eligibility requires a minimum investment of NT$2 million (~US$62,000) through venture capital, government funds, or approved platforms. Applicants who have already established a business in Taiwan can qualify with a minimum investment of NT$1 million (~US$31,000). Teams can combine investments to meet this amount.
To qualify for the Taiwan Entrepreneur Visa, applicants must meet the following investment/funding requirements:
Individual Applicants:
NT$2 million: Secure at least NT$2 million from one of the following:
NT$1 million: Establish a business in Taiwan with at least NT$1 million invested and serve as its legal representative, manager, or director.
Team Applicants:
NT$1 million (combined): Establish a business in Taiwan with a combined team investment of at least NT$1 million. Team members must serve as legal representatives, executive officers, or managers.
Residency Extension Requirements:
Maintain Continuous Residency
Meet Business Performance Requirements
Apply for Permanent Residency (Optional)
Apply for Citizenship
Once approved, applicants shall be granted Taiwan citizenship.
